Op 21 maart varen we vanaf 'savonds (18:50 UTC; 55.18.69N-16.52.15W) de hele nacht naar het oosten. Het waait hard uit het zuidwesten, maar doordat de wind van achteren komt, hebben we er weinig last van. In de ochtend van zondag 22 maart p 55.24.11N-13.34.11W zouden we volgens plan naar het zuidwesten moeten varen om daar een transect te varen op 55 graden noorderbreedte, maar we ruilen dit transect op het laatste moment met onze Ierse collega's op de Celtic Explorer en varen gewoon door naar het het oosten. Op deze manier hoeven zowel het Ierse schip als het Nederlandse schip minder te varen en het bespaart de Tridens een onrustige vaart tegen de wind in. De hele zondag zien we af en toe kleine schooltjes blauwe wijting, maar het is zo weinig dat het niet de moeite is, om er op te vissen.

Na deze trek varen we verder tot 55.19.85N-10.55.63W. Op deze locatie zouden we volgens plan naar het noorden moeten varen naar het volgende transect, maar het weer laat dit niet toe. Er zijn storm-voorspellingen en het wordt alleen maar erger naarmate we verder nara het noorden gaan. We besluiten om naar het noordwesten te varen om later met de wind mee een stuk van het volgende transect af te leggen.
