In de nacht van 30 op 31 maart varen we over Rosemary Bank naar het westen. Om 4:08 UTC komen we bij het einde van het transect op 59.18.38N-11.59.58W en zetten koers naar het noorden, naar het begin van het volgende transect. In de ochtend van paaszondag komen we om 6:13 UTC aan bij het beginpunt op 59.38.46N-12.00.00 en draaien naar het oosten.

In the night of March 30 to 31 we sail over Rosemary Bank to the west. At 4:08 UTC we reach the end of the transect at 59.18.38N-11.59.58W and head north to the start of the next transect. On the morning of Easter Sunday we arrive at the starting point at 59.38.46N-12.00.00 at 6:13 UTC and turn east.

We bevinden ons nu op het laatste transect van de Tridens. Gedurende de hele dag zien we vrijwel geen blauwe wijting. Pas laat in de avond, om 22:54 UTC zien we lichte scholen verspreid tussen de 400 en 600m diepte. We zetten het net uit voor de twaalfde en laatste trek van deze onderzoeksreis. De vangst bestaat uit blauwe wijting vermengd met betrekkelijk veel andere soorten.

We are now on the last transect of the Tridens. During the entire day we see virtually no blue whiting. Only late in the evening, at 22:54 UTC, do we see light schools spread between 400 and 600m depth. We set the net for the twelfth and final haul of this research trip. The catch consists of blue whiting mixed with relatively many other species.

Het was niet meteen duidelijk, maar er blijken behoorlijk veel andere soorten dan blauwe wijting in de vangst te zitten. - It was not immediately clear, but there appear to be quite a few species other than blue whiting in the catch.

Bruine veelvraatvis (Pseudoscopelus altipinnis) en Atlantische crankinktvis (Teuthowenia megalops). De inktvissoort is beschadigd. Normaalgesproken heeft deze soort grote, uitpuilende ogen. - Brown swallower (Pseudoscopelus altipinnis) and Atlantic cranch squid (Teuthowenia megalops). The squid species is damaged. Normally this species has large, bulging eyes.

Een sorteerbakje met enkele exemplaren van zilverkabeljauw (Gadiculus argenteus) en Stomsnuit gladkopvis (Xenodermichthys copei). - A sorting tray with some specimens of silvery pout (Gadiculus argenteus) and bluntsnout smooth-head fish (Xenodermichthys copei).

Atlantische howella (Howella atlantica), een lantaarnvis (Nannobrachium lineatum), lange borstelmond (Gonostoma elongatum), een zwaar beschadigd exemplaar van een schubdraakvis (Stomias boa) en twee zwaar beschadige exemplaren van Sloane's addervis (Chauliodus sloani). - Atlantic pelagic basslet (Howella atlantica), a lanternfish (Nannobrachium lineatum), elongated bristlemouth (Gonostoma elongatum), a badly damaged specimen of a boa dragonfish (Stomias boa) and two badly damaged specimens of Sloane's viperfish (Chauliodus sloani).

Van elke blauwe wijting in het monster, wordt lengte, gewicht en rijpheid bepaald. De otoliet wordt verzameld om de leeftijd af te lezen. - Length, weight and maturity are determined for each blue whiting in the sample. The otolith is collected to read the age.

Na trek 12 varen we verder naar het einde van het transect, waar we aankomen op maandag 1 april om 6:00 UTC. We zijn nu klaar met de transecten en zetten koers naar Loch Ewe, een beschutte fjord langs de noordwestkust van Schotland om de akoestische apparatuur nog een keer te calibreren.

After haul 12 we continue to the end of the transect, arriving on Monday 1 April at 6:00 UTC. We have now finished the transects and set course for Loch Ewe, a sheltered fjord along the northwest coast of Scotland to calibrate the acoustic equipment again.
