In de ochtend van maandag 23 maart, verslechtert het weer nog meer. De golven laten niet toe dat we verder naar het Noordwesten varen. Daarom beginnen we op het transect oostelijker dan gepland. Om 12:33 UTC starten we vanaf 56.39.43N-11.17.48W en varen naar het oosten. Dit is redelijk goed te doen met de wind van achteren. 'S avonds bij rand van het continentale plat om 8:45 UTC zien we sterke echo's van blauwe wijting, maar het is niet mogelijk om hierop te vissen, omdat de wind inmiddels is toegenomen tot stormkracht (W9).
On the morning of Monday, March 23, the weather deteriorated even further. The waves do not allow us to sail further northwest. Therefore, we start on the transect further east than planned. At 12:33 UTC, we start from 56.39.43N-11.17.48W and sail east. This is reasonably manageable with a tailwind. In the evening, at the edge of the continental shelf at 8:45 UTC, we see strong echoes of blue whiting, but it is not possible to fish for them because the wind has increased to gale force (W9).

In de nacht vaart de Tridens rustig door en om 8:00 UTC gaan we voor anker in de luwte van de Outer Hebrides, achter het eiland South Uist. Hier blijven de op dinsdag 24 maart de hele dag voor anker liggen. Uiteraard houden we de weersvoorspelling goed in de gaten, om het onderzoek weer op te pikken zodra het weer kan.
During the night, the Tridens sails on with low speed, and at 8:00 UTC we drop anchor in the lee of the Outer Hebrides, behind the island of South Uist. We will remain anchored here for the entire day on Tuesday, March 24. Naturally, we are keeping a close eye on the weather forecast to resume the research as soon as it is possible.
